On Aug. 15, 2018, officers responded just before noon for a report of a suspicious death. There they spoke to her father who found her dead inside the basement of her Severn home on Hawk Court.

She was found with multiple stab wounds from a sharp object.

An investigation began and evidence from the scene was tested for DNA and that helped detectives narrow down a list of possible suspects.

"Our forensic lab did superhuman work," Chief Timothy Altomare said about the case. "I'd also like to thank the tireless efforts of the homicide unit as well."

Altomare said Sanchez and Adams knew each other, but couldn't give too many details due to the pending case.

Adams' family wrote in a statement to WJZ on Tuesday:

"My family and I are extremely grateful for the hard work and dedication fo the Anne Arundel County Police Department,"

"A granddaughter,  a daughter and a mother, had her life stolen. Her life mattered in this county. The Anne Arundel County Police Department has not stopped working on this case since Ms. Adams was murdered. We will not stop working until justice is done,"

Police could not go into detail about their relationship or the crime- saying only that this was a targeted attack.

Officials said that their work is not done just yet.

"A granddaughter, a daughter and a mother had her life stolen," Altomare said. "Her life mattered to this country. We will not stop working until justice is done."
