Man Arrested In Aftermath Of Fatal Shooting In Edgewood
EDGEWOOD, Md. (AP) -- Authorities in Harford County say they arrested a suspect in the immediate aftermath of a fatal shooting in Edgewood.
The Harford County Sheriff's Office says deputies were nearby conducting a traffic stop when they heard gunshots on Tuesday night. Deputies found 21-year-old Darius Preston suffering from a gunshot wound. Preston was taken to a hospital, where he died.
Deputies spotted a man running from the scene and took him into custody. He's been identified as 26-year-old Marvin Smith, and he's been charged with murder and handgun offenses.
No attorney for Smith was listed in court records. He has been represented by public defenders in previous legal matters, including a guilty plea to carjacking.
