$8K reward offered for information leading to arrest in murder of Baltimore rapper 'President Davo'

BALTIMORE -- An $8,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to an arrest and charges in the murder of an up-and-coming Baltimore rapper.

David Boykin, who also went by the name "President Davo," was shot and killed in Baltimore's South Clifton Park neighborhood last week, according to police.

Officers found the 28-year-old Boykin in the 2000 block of Cliftwood Avenue suffering from multiple gunshot wounds Friday evening.  He was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead by medical personnel, according to authorities.

"He was a city hero, for real," described Boykin's friend and fellow artist, StarrZ. "I'd tell him how great he was and how no one was really on his level, how he was the most talented person in Baltimore."

Fans took to social media to express their sadness after the news broke, commenting on Boykin's Instagram, and mourning the rapper on TikTok.

Boykin currently has 33,105 monthly listeners on Spotify, and released 11 albums since 2017.

In Sept. 2014, the artist posted a music video to YouTube for the remix 'I Don't Wanna Be a Playa', which has garnered more than 7.1 million views.

Friend, Ant Williams, said one of his fondest memories with President Davo was during the creation of that video.

"We see the talent, we see the passion he had for music, we saw the love he had for his people," said Williams.

Boykin leaves behind three children, according to the performer's manager, Drea England.

"If the city could give Davo one thing back, it's taking care of his kids. He lives for that," said Williams.
