When officers arrived at the scene they found her suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the torso.

She was taken to an area hospital where she later died.

Police have not said anything or any motives or suspects in the shooting.

"We have to change the culture where people are deciding to solve their conflicts with violence," Baltimore Police Commissioner Michael Harrison said.

It was a violent Labor Day in Baltimore, which included a triple shooting near Northwood Elementary School that killed a man who was shot to the lower body just hours before the first day of classes.

"We need community help," Mayor Jack Young said. "They know who are doing all of the shootings, they know who are doing the killings, they know who are doing the carjackings. They have to stop turning a blind eye."

"I don't think we want, ever, to get fully used to the level of violence that some of our young people, and we as a city, our facing," CEO of Baltimore City Schools Sonja Santelises said.

Renee Summerville has lived in the community her entire life and is afraid when she goes outside.

"It's just not safe here anymore," Summerville said. "It's really sad, and it makes me worry about other people's kids and the community. It's just crazy that this is becoming more normal now."

On Monday night, mourners remembered the life of 16-year-old Milton Carrington who was killed in a shooting in east Baltimore that also wounded his mother.

"No child deserves to be gunned down like a dog," Tamika Walker, Carrington's mother, said. "It feels like a nightmare that I cannot wake up from."

At least 19 people have been shot in Baltimore since Saturday.
