Kayaker Rescued From Patapsco River

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- A kayaker fell into the water about 1/4 mile from the Patapsco River shoreline in Pasadena Thursday.

The Maryland Natural Resources Police and the Anne Arundel County Fire Department partnered in the rescue.

According to authorities, they received a call about a kayaker in distress around 10:40 a.m.

The 46-year-old male victim is a duck hunter.

The water temperature of the river was in the low 30s and he was stuck in the water for about 30 minutes. He eventually got back into the kayak but ice blocked his path back to shore.

The victim was taken to the University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center where he is being treated. He was conscious and breathing but suffered from hypothermia symptoms.
