After Racially Charged Incident, Jones Calls For Harsher Punishment For Abusive Fans
BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- During last night's game against the Boston Red Sox, Orioles center fielder Adam Jones said he was "called the N-word a handful of times" and said this was one of the worst cases of fan abuse he has heard in his 12-year career.
"I just heard that all night, it's something that caught my attention, I heard the n-word," Jones said.
The fan, who also threw a bag of peanuts towards the field, was ejected from the stadium. However, Jones said that wasn't enough. "Things like that need to be handled a little more properly, in my opinion," he said.
Jones continued to say, "What they need to do is that instead of kicking them out of the stadium, they need to fine them 10 grand, 20 grand, 30 grand. Something that really hurts somebody."

This is not the first time Jones has spoken out against abusive fans. Last October during a game against the Toronto Blue Jays, a "fan" tossed an open beer can at Orioles left fielder Hyun-Soo Kim and Adam Jones was taunted with racial slurs.
"It's Orioles, Red Sox, I don't want any special treatment, treat me as normal, just keep racist stuff out of there."
Jones was very vocal about his disdain for the situation saying, "You don't do that. I don't care how passionate you are...I hope they find the guy and press charges." That fan was charged with mischief.
