Johns Hopkins Puts Plans For Armed Campus Police On Hold Amid Nationwide Protests Over Police Brutality, Racial Injustice

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Johns Hopkins University is suspending its plan for armed campus police amid the protests over police brutality and racial injustice.
The plan to have armed officers at their three Baltimore campuses will be put on hold for at least two years, University officials announced.
In that time, the University said they'll participate in discussions about police reform.
"Throughout the process and again in recent weeks, we have been keenly aware of the range of principled and thoughtful perspectives on these issues, and we hear now the increasingly urgent calls for reconsideration of the way in which public safety in our community is achieved," school officials said in a statement.
