John Rallo On Ronda Rousey Getting Knocked Out At UFC 193
John Rallo is the promoter for Shogun Fights the local mixed martial arts company.
John joined Ed and Steve to talk about Shogun Fights 13 at the Royal Farms Arena on October 24th.
Steve asked John about whether or not coaching was to fault for Ronda Rousey's performance at UFC 193. John believes there is some validity to the criticism given to Rousey's coach Edmond Tarverdyan, "her coach I don't believe helped her very much. Ronda's mom really blasted Edmond a few weeks ago. After we watched the fight, you really have to see that where there's smoke there is fire. It was kind of depressing to watch."
Ed asked John about his thoughts on why Ronda Rousey lost to Holly Holm. John believes that coaching and a tough opponent were the root of Ronda's problems in the octagon, "my personal opinion is the problem was coaching. Ronda has the work ethic and ability to improve her striking. She's always been able to overwhelm her opponents and take them to the ground. Holly physically was superior to Ronda. It was a very impressive performance from a woman who is now a world champion in three different sports."
John went on to discuss the coaching job that John Harbaugh has done with the Ravens this season, and his rankings for the greatest upsets in UFC history.
