Joe Beninati On Whether The Capitals Are True Contenders In The East
Joe Beninati is the current play by play voice of the Washington Capitals for Comcast Sportsnet.
Joe joined Ed and Steve to talk about the Capitals season down the stretch and the NHL trade deadline.
Joe started off by talking about whether or not he believes the Capitals did enough to be a contender in the East saying "I like what they did, I wish they did a little more up front...the addition of Curtis Glencross will help and Barry Trotz will get the best of his talents." As for where Glencross fits into the Caps roster right now Joe said "for now he'll jump in on the 2nd line and play with Kuznetsov and Brouwer...he is a player who can move quickly and hit hard." When asked about Ed gloating a bit about the Rangers work at the deadline and who he thought were winners Joe said "very little argument from me, I thought Anaheim did very well, they got faster and younger...with regard to Ed and the Rangers if you bring in Keith Yandle to the Rangers it's hard to match, the Rangers now are stacked on defense." Joe finished by talking about whether or not he thinks the Capitals can contend in the East come playoff time.
