Jerry Coleman From Ravens Training Camp
Jerry Coleman calls in from training camp to update Scott and Jeremy on 105.7 The Fan.
Finally after weeks of waiting and antsy fans, the word comes out that Ray Rice is suspended for two games. Just TWO GAMES. All of the NFL analysts have been thinking that he would be suspended for four games. Rice and the Ravens are pretty lucky.
Now with some more than positive news, with the guys practice minus the pads today, Coleman said that "Steve Smith is on fire…he lit up Lardarius Webb," today in practice. This comes to a surprise considering Smith was just in the news recently. Heloti Ngata also looks like he is in great shape as well. His knee and his back are doing great. As usual we should see some big things from Ngata this year.
The Ravens know they have a lot to prove especially with the offseason that they have had. Not just with the offseason but the offense has a lot to prove but seems like it has been going more than good for the guys. Last year the Ravens running game was terrible. Looks like Bernard Pierce will have to step in. Coleman also said that the Ravens are probably not going to fill that void by bringing anyone in while Rice is out.
Apparently the Ravens conditioning test differs from a lot of NFL teams. Coach Harbaugh wants to make sure that his team is not getting hurt and not relaxing too much during their offseason. Who wants accidents?
As the season is getting closer, everyone is wondering, who is going to be the leader this year? Maybe, Suggs on defense and possibly Steve Smith later down the line. Joe has been more confident lately and has been opening his mouth a little more. From behind the scenes, Joe seems more outspoken than we have seen. The boys play one more day without pads on Friday and pads on Saturday.
