Jeremy Conn: Do You Want Nick Markakis Back?
Rumors circulated yesterday from Peter Gammons on Twitter about the Orioles asking the Braves about trading for Nick Markakis.
Obviously, the Orioles still have a need for a Right Fielder and a lead off hitter. They thought they had Dexter Fowler in the fold to be that guy, but he decided that Chicago was a better fit for him.
Markakis does have a bad contract and would be owed roughly $33 million left over 3 years. There are a ton of fans that still love him and would love to see him back in an Orioles uniform. Some people say if the Orioles make a move for him then that would mean they made a mistake in not signing him when he was a free agent.
I think the Orioles would have loved to have had Nick back here, I believe the Braves overpaid for him but it does make sense for them to kick the tires on him and see if they could strike a deal.
But what would you be willing to give up to get him?
