San Diego Padres' Jackson Merrill, a Severna Park native, earns All-MLB Second Team honors

BALTIMORE -- San Diego Padres Jackson Merrill, a Severna Park, Maryland, native earned All-MLB Second-Team honors following an impressive rookie season.

The accolades were announced on Thursday during an Awards show in Las Vegas.

Merrill, an outfielder who helped the Padres reach the postseason, batted .292 with 24 home runs, 90 RBIs, 16 stolen bases, six triples and 31 doubles.

He was also named a mid-season All-Star. He also won the Silver Slugger Award.

In the postseason, Merrill hit a home run and drove in five runs.

Merrill played high school baseball at Severna Park and was drafted in the first round of the 2021 MLB Draft by the Padres. He played the entire season in the big leagues.
