Informant Testimony Eyed In Cecil County Killing

ELKTON, Md. (AP) -- Maryland prosecutors plan to use a jailhouse informant in their murder case against a Port Deposit man accused of raping and killing a 10-year-old Cecil County girl.

Defense attorneys for Richard Madden Jr., 30, filed a discovery motion late last week seeking information about prosecutors' plans to use the informant.

A hearing on discovery and other pretrial issues was held Wednesday. Madden's trial is set to start on March 31.

Madden was arrested on the drug charges in June as authorities investigated the death of Kami Ring. He was later charged with killing her.

Ring's body was found near a home where she'd been staying with Madden's parents. The girl considered the couple to be her grandparents, even though they were not biologically related to her.
