Photos Show Maryland Man Matthew Ryan Miller Climbing U.S Capitol Wall During Jan. 6 Riot

COOKSVILLE, Md. (WJZ) -- A Howard County man is the latest Marylander arrested in connection to the U.S. Capitol riots on Jan. 6.

Matthew Ryan Miller, 22, of Cooksville, was arrested Monday morning and scheduled to appear in federal court in Washington, D.C., Monday afternoon, the FBI confirmed to WJZ.

According to a criminal complaint, Miller faces four charges.

Miller is accused of being among a violent mob of pro-Trump supporters who stormed the Capitol while lawmakers were working to certify the election results.

The complaint alleges a photo shows him in a black cowboy hat and Washington Capitals jersey discharging a fire extinguisher on the steps leading to an entrance to the building. He's also accused of using a portion of a temporary crowd control barrier to climb up the wall of the western side of the Capitol plaza.

After the riots, someone who has known Miller for years sent officials a screenshot of an Instagram post that also showed him in the area, according to the complaint.

Five people died as a result of the violence, including a Capitol Police officer. More than 130 people have been federally charged in connection to the riots.

Another Howard County man was reportedly linked to the U.S. Capitol riots. Andrew Ryan Benett turned himself into the FBI Tuesday morning.
