Family Displaced After House Fire In Howard County

COLUMBIA, Md. (WJZ) -- A fire in Howard County left one family without a home Saturday afternoon.

Howard County firefighters were called to the 6400 block of Guilford Road in Columbia, Maryland, just before 4 p.m. When firefighters arrived, they found a fire showing from the first floor.

The residents of the home were home when the fire started. They had safely evacuated prior to the arrival of firefighters.

Two dogs were rescued by firefighters and paramedics, according to officials. They were reunited with their family at a neighboring house.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. It took crews about 30 minutes to control and was completely extinguished shortly after.

The American Red Cross is assisting the family who was displaced.

No injuries were reported.
