Holiday Cheer Has Arrived In And Around Charm City

TOWSON, Md. (WJZ)—From Baltimore County to downtown, the holidays have arrived. For the first time, Christmas trees are lit, ice skates are gliding and Santa Clause is open for business.

Christie Ileto has a look at the festivities.

The lights are getting brighter.

The mood is more festive.

"It starts to get you into the holiday spirit of things," one woman said.

Yule tidings start in Towson.

"The excitement of dancers, seeing Santa, Clydesdales was just so great. I just couldn't let this go. I had to be here," said Shannon Kelley.

The rock star of Christmas stopped in White Marsh.

Santa and live music are a kid's dream.

And after a 12-year absence, ice skating is back downtown-- just in time for the holidays. This year it's moved from Rash Field to McKeldon Square.

"Its very family oriented, so it's nice," one woman said.

The Inner Harbor is prime hub for holiday cheer with a newly opened rink and Santa's downtown home.

"It's nice to be somewhere where everybody is in the same spirit, everybody's nice," said Megan Rosenberg.

Six weeks of holiday festivities will bring people across Maryland together.
