Hogan Visiting Fort Meade For Tour And Proclamation

FORT MEADE, Md. (AP) -- Gov. Larry Hogan is visiting Fort Meade.

Officials at the sprawling Army installation near Baltimore say Hogan's visit on Friday afternoon includes the signing of a proclamation recognizing the 50th anniversary of the Defense Information School.

The school trains service members and civilian military workers from the United States and nearly 80 allied nations as journalists, photographers, videographers and public affairs officers.

Fort Meade encompasses more than 5,000 acres between Baltimore and Washington. It is also home to the U.S. Cyber Command and the National Security Agency.

With more than 56,000 employees, Fort Meade says it is Maryland's largest employer and has the third largest workforce of any Army installation in the U.S.

It is named for Civil War Maj. Gen. George G. Meade.
