Hearing On Drone Legislation Set In Maryland
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- A measure in Maryland would establish that only the state may enact a law or take other actions to prohibit or restrict the use of unmanned aircrafts, not local governments.
A hearing on the bill about drones is set for Tuesday in Annapolis.
The bill is sponsored by Sen. James Rosapepe, a Prince George's County Democrat.
The measure would require the Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development to study potential uses of drones for state activities.
The same study will identify polices that should be implemented to ensure any privacy and public safety issues are addressed.
The measure is being heard in the Senate Finance Committee.
