Hagerstown-Orlando Route Goes On Temporary Hiatus
HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) -- Low-cost carrier Allegiant Air is temporarily suspending its passenger route from Hagerstown Regional Airport to Orlando as vacation season winds down.
The twice-weekly service will resume Oct. 31.
Local media partners report that the seasonal shutdown is an annual occurrence with Allegiant. An airline spokesman says the hiatus is an important part of its low-fare model, ensuring that planes fly only when full of passengers.
Las Vegas-based Allegiant serves about 7 million passengers a year, with most routes connecting small airports to vacation destinations like Orlando and Las Vegas.
