Gunman Opens Fire On Firefighters At D.C. Car Crash
WASHINGTON (AP) -- Police and fire officials say a gunman opened fire on police and firefighters who were treating an injured man after a car crash in northeast Washington.
Dabney Hudson of the D.C. Firefighters Association says firefighters were treating the victims involved with the crash when the gunman opened fire early Saturday morning. Some of them ran inside and took cover in an apartment. Others dived under a police car or behind their fire truck.
There were no reports of injuries from the gunfire.
Police investigating the car crash said one of the drivers pulled out the gun and began firing. Police say the suspected gunman took off in a car and was chased into southeast Washington where he was arrested. The gun also was recovered.
