Gov. Hogan Prepares For 2nd Round Of Chemotherapy
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (WJZ) -- Governor Hogan prepares for his second round of chemotherapy this weekend. The governor announced last month he has stage III non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
And as Pat Warren reports, he's been able to keep to a busy schedule.
Governor Hogan not letting cancer break his stride.
"I mean, under the circumstances, don't I look pretty good?" he said.
Looking good at a meet and greet with presidential candidate Chris Christie on Wednesday, followed by a government house buy-local event Thursday, and Friday, the state police graduation.
"Well, I feel pretty good. I was expecting it to be a lot worse. I think people are surprised that I'm as strong as I am and that we're working as hard as we are. I hope it continues like that," the governor said. "I go back in again Sunday for my second round, and I'm just hopeful it's going to be as easy as the first one. But I understand it gets a little tougher as you go along."
If the first round is any indication, Marylanders will be in his corner for round two. Not the politics, but the person is the focus here.
"You've watched the real courage he's shown as he's facing his own personal challenges, and never once complaining about anything," said New Jersey Governor Chris Christie.
And it continues today.
"So far, I've been doing great, and very grateful for the outpouring of support and prayers and love from people all across the state. It really helps make me get through this thing," Gov. Hogan said.
In the course of this treatment, many Marylanders have adopted an unofficial state motto -- "Hogan Strong."
The governor is being treated at University of Maryland Medical Center.
