Glen Burnie Man Charged In Stabbing Attack At M&T Bank ATM
GLEN BURNIE, Md. (WJZ)-- A Glen Burnie man is arrested and charged with assault after police say he attacked a man with a knife outside an ATM.
Just before 1:30 a.m., a 57-year-old male victim was attempting to use the M&T Bank ATM when he was approached by Timothy John Garrity. Police say Garrity began shouting and then started stabbing him wife a knife.
The victim produced his own knife and attempted to fight back, wounding Garrity. The 57-year-old victim was able to get back into the truck and was driven to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma for injuries to his arm, neck and torso.
A witness who saw the brawl contacted police. When officers arrived to the scene, they found Garrity bleeding from the hand. He told officers that he was using the ATM when a male and female approached him and tried to rob him of his bank card. But police say his story didn't match witness accounts.
Shortly after, a call was received from the Baltimore Washington Medical Center from a stabbing victim in the emergency room; that victim was transported in a black truck driven by a female. The victim's description of the assailant matched Garrity, who was also transported to BWMC by medics and treated for his injuries.
Garrity was arrested and charged with attempted second-degree homicide, first and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct.
