Frankie Valli To Headline July 4 Celebration In D.C.
WASHINGTON (AP) -- That trademark falsetto behind "Sherry," "Big Girls Don't Cry" and other hits from 50 years ago will usher in the July 4 celebration on the National Mall this year as Frankie Valli headlines the "Capitol Fourth" show in Washington.
On Monday, concert organizers are announcing early plans for this year's program, which will be broadcast nationally on PBS.
Valli just turned 80 years old this month and is still busy touring. His voice propelled the success of The Four Seasons from their first national exposure in 1962 when they performed "Sherry" on "American Bandstand." More recently, the musical "Jersey Boys" about the doo-wop group has been a long-running hit on Broadway.
Valli is looking back on more than 50 years in music but has no plans to retire anytime soon.
