Former Youth Minister Accused Of Sexually Assaulting Teen

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (AP) -- A former assistant youth minister at a central New Jersey church has been charged with sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl on several occasions in the late 1990s.

Middlesex County prosecutors say 60-year-old Ronald Wilcox, of Fruitland, Md., was arrested Saturday in Maryland. He's charged with aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault, aggravated sexual contact, sexual contact and child endangerment.

Wilcox remains in custody in Maryland, but is expected to be returned to New Jersey. Bail has not yet been set, and it's not known if he has retained a lawyer.

Wilcox lived in Piscataway at the time the alleged sexual assaults occurred. At the time, prosecutors say he was serving as a Deacon-in-training and assisted the youth ministry at the Macedonia Freewill Baptist Church in Piscataway.
