Former Salisbury Police Officer Ronald Brown Pleads Guilty To Threatening Man With Gun
SALISBURY, Md. (AP) — A Maryland police officer accused of threatening an acquaintance with a gun during an off-duty verbal confrontation in his Delaware home last year has entered a guilty plea.
Ronald Brown pled guilty to a felony count of aggravated menacing Monday, several days after he resigned from the Salisbury Police Department, the department said in a news release. He was suspended without pay after he was indicted by a grand jury in March for the October 2019 incident.
Brown, 42, received a five-year sentence, which has been suspended pending a completion of one year of supervised probation.

"While this agency can't control the actions of our employees in their off time, it goes without saying that we expect them to uphold the very same standards of integrity and trust off the clock as we do on the clock," Salisbury Police Chief Barbara Duncan said in the news release. "What happened in this case is absolutely unacceptable, and it's antithetical to what the SPD stands for."
The 39-year-old victim filed a complaint with the police department following the incident, which triggered an investigation by the Delaware State Police last December. The argument began over payment for work being done on Brown's car, according to the State Police.
It was not immediately clear if Brown had an attorney who could comment.
