Ford's Theatre Raises $77K For D.C. Youth Charity

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Ford's Theatre says its audiences donated more than $77,000 for a local youth charity during performances of "A Christmas Carol" in November and December.

The theater says donations are being given to Covenant House Washington, which provides housing and services to homeless youth.

During each performance of "A Christmas Carol," theater patrons were encouraged to make donations at curtain calls and through the theater's box office.

This is the fifth year the theater has supported a Washington-area charity with a fundraising effort.
