Flood Watch In Effect Through Thursday Across Maryland
Baltimore (WJZ)-- A flood watch is in effect this evening through Thursday morning for several counties across Maryland.
The watch begins 6 p.m. Wednesday and expires 6 a.m. Thursday; it includes portions of northern Virginia, D.C. and the following areas in Maryland: Anne Arundel, Harford, Howard, Montgomery, northern Baltimore, Prince Georges and southern Baltimore.
Moderate to locally heavy rain could cause flooding of low lying areas, especially in urban areas and locations prone to freshwater flooding.
One to two inches of rain is expected by early Thursday.
Officials are warning motorists to avoid flooded roads. Turn around, don't drown.
A flood watch simply means that there is a potential for flooding. Later forecasts may issue a flood warning, which means those living in the ares should be prepared to take action.
