Fire Damages Home In Sykesville

SYKESVILLE, Md. (WJZ) -- A home in Sykesville was damaged by a fire Friday afternoon, officials said.
Firefighters were called to the home in the 1000 block of Courtland Drive around 2:20 p.m.
The flames damaged the home's bedroom and attic. Two people who were inside at the time were able to escape, the Sykesville Fire Department said.
Firefighters had to rescue two cats, the Maryland State Fire Marshal's office said.
The fire caused around $50,000 in damage. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
