Feds Want $3.7M Of Baltimore's Homeless Grant Back

BALTIMORE (AP) -- The federal government is ordering Baltimore to return $3.7 million of a $9.5 million grant meant to help homeless families.

A local TV station reports that the Department of Housing and Urban Development says the paperwork returned to the department didn't show that the money had been used properly.

Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake said Wednesday that HUD is not alleging fraud or abuse or questioning whether the money was spent to help the homeless. Officials say the program helped 115 homeless families in Baltimore.

City officials have not said if they plan to appeal.
