FBI Searching For Serial Cell Phone Store Robber In Baltimore

BALTIMORE (WJZ)--The FBI and Baltimore Police are on the hunt for an armed man they say is behind a string of Baltimore City robberies.

Police say the robberies have occurred in both north and downtown Baltimore. WJZ spoke with one woman who was robbed at gunpoint, just steps away from her three young children.

The most recent robbery was at Cricket Wireless store at 3226 Greenmont Avenue on August 10.

WJZ's Amy Yensi has the latest.

Authorities say the serial cell phone robber is armed during these incidents and they trying to stop him before he strikes again.

Officials say the suspect has targeted Metro PCS and Cricket Wireless stores across Baltimore in July and August.

The first robbery happened at Cricket Wireless on North Charles Street. Five other robberies followed, each, less than a week apart.

  • July 20– Cricket Wireless, 2446 North Charles Street, Baltimore
  • July 23 – Metro PCS, 3832 Liberty Heights Ave., Baltimore
  • July 27– Metro PCS, 5510 ½ Harford Road, Baltimore
  • Aug 1 – Metro PCS, 1134 South Charles Street, Baltimore
  • Aug. 6 – Metro PCS, 4424 Park Heights Avenue, Baltimore

Lanette Stinnette is one of several victims who has been robbed at gunpoint. She says just before the suspect left he said, "I don't want to see anybody. No police before 15 minutes, or I don't have a problem coming back and killing anyone."

The suspect is described as a black man around 40 to 45-year-old, 160 pounds with a medium build and complexion.

He's been seen wearing eye glasses or baseball caps during the robberies.

In one robbery he's seen wearing a Michael Kors belt buckle.

In each robbery, he enters the store, approaches the clerk, pulls out a gun, demands money and then leaves.

No injuries have been reported in these robberies.

The FBI is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads top an arrest.
