FBI, IRS Search Water Commission Offices In Md.
LAUREL, Md. (AP) -- The Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission says the FBI and IRS have seized documents from its offices in Laurel as part of an ongoing investigation.
FBI spokeswoman Amy Thoreson says agents were at the offices for hours on Tuesday, but she declined to say why.
The WSSC is a water and wastewater utility serving 1.8 million residents in Montgomery and Prince George's counties in Maryland.
WSSC spokesman Jim Neustadt said in a statement that the commission was aware of the investigation and is cooperating with it. He said the commission turned over all documents that were requested of it and has no reason to believe that it's a target of the investigation.
