Father Facing Child Abuse Charges of 8-Week Old Infant

HAGERSTOWN, Md. (WJZ)—A Hagerstown father is facing child abuse charges after police say he injured his 8-week-old infant on August 12.

Police say the infant was hospitalized after sustaining injures to the left frontal lobe of the brain, multiple acute bilateral posterior rib fractures and bruising on the left leg.

The mother of the child says she was at work when she got a call that "something was wrong with her infant".

Her husband, Nicholas James Hammersla, 23, of Hagerstown was later arrested at the Washington County Sheriff's Office and charged with 2-counts of child abuse.
