Family of Timothy Reynolds speak one year after deadly altercation with squeegee workers

BALTIMORE -- The family of Timothy Reynolds, the man who police say was shot and killed during an altercation with squeegee workers last summer, held a press conference Friday afternoon with lawyer Thiru Vignarajah.

A 15-year-old boy was charged in Reynolds' murder.  While the teen was 14 years old at the time of the incident, his case will be tried in adult court.

The shooting unfolded at the intersection of Light and West Conway streets after Reynolds allegedly swung a bat at a group of squeegee workers following a dispute, according to police. In return, one of the squeegee workers pulled out a gun and fired, killing Reynolds, according to police.

"Since this tragedy happened my brother was condemned, for weeks, months he was a bat-wielding maniac - the big white guy going after the young black kid and all that does is divide the city, that's not what our family stands for, it's not what my brother stood for." Reynolds' sister said.  "This is just a man who was murdered in cold blood on the city streets of Baltimore that he loved so much."

As the Reynolds family awaits the trial, they took the time to remember him at the very place he took his last breath.

"He was a husband, he was a father, he has three children who don't have a father, he was an engineer. He will never get to hug his children, hug my mother, my father, his wife, ever again," Reynolds' sister said.

A trial date has been set for July 17.
