Police: Man Tied Up Elderly Couple During Home Invasion

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Police have arrested a 45-year-old man accused of tying up an elderly couple with belts during a targeted home invasion in Baltimore County early Wednesday morning.

Timothy McCargo faces a number of charges in connection with the home invasion robbery of a 70-year-old man and his 68-year-old wife.

The quiet Pikesville neighborhood is shaken after news of the robbery.

Baltimore County police officers were called at 4:35 a.m., about a home invasion in the 3300 block of Timberfield Lane.

The couple called police after they escaped their bindings.

Police learned that McCargo entered their home through a window at 3:45 a.m., and, wearing a hoodie, stayed undetected until the couple's dog woke the husband.

He woke to find McCargo, who was reportedly armed with a gun.

The suspect wanted money, but when they handed it over he said "that's all?" according to the couple.

He took off with five guns, ammunition, their SUV and a pack of toilet paper.

"What if they came into our house? We have children, would they have tied them up as well? Would they have done worse? It's really scary," said neighbor Yona Engel.

Police believe he knew the couple after he did some kind of work at their home.

"So he was familiar with the couple who lived there, he knew that residence, that couple was targeted by him for that purpose," said Jennifer Peach of the Baltimore County Police.

Police arrested McCargo at his home later the same day.

County police said they were able to recover most of the stolen items including the stolen SUV, but the couple said it was set on fire.

The suspect now faces eleven charges, including grand theft auto and armed robbery.

McCargo is currently being held at the Baltimore County Detention Center.

Police say one gun is still missing.
