Who is Officer Edward Nero?

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Officer Edward Nero was acquitted of all charges today in the trial of Freddie Gray.

Nero was one of the six officers charged in the case. 

He faced charges of assault, misconduct in office and reckless endangerment. He was the second of the six officers to stand trial. The first officer's trial, Officer William Porter, ended in a hung jury and mistrial in December.

Here are some quick facts about Edward Nero.

  • He joined the Baltimore Police Department in 2012.
  • He was a volunteer firefighter from 2002-2012 for Washington Township FD in New Jersey.
  • Nero graduated from high school in 2004.
