Dundalk Celebrates America At 80th Annual Fourth Of July Parade

DUNDALK, Md. (WJZ) — It's one of the largest and longest running Fourth of July parades in the country. It's right in our own backyard, and Baltimore loves it.

Ron Matz reports Dundalk was a sea of red, white and blue Friday morning.

If you have a chair, a blanket and a front row seat, then you have the Dundalk Fourth of July Parade.

"Just coming here makes you feel more patriotic. That's the name of the game. With our soldiers coming back now and everything, this is where it's at. I really feel this is the parade to be at," said Bill Neibuhr, of Dundalk.

Folks come from near and far to say happy birthday America.

"You can't find a more patriotic, caring and loving community than Dundalk," said Jacki Crandell, mistress of ceremonies and Optimist Club of Dundalk member.

One hundred and sixty units from six states make the Dundalk Fourth of July Parade one of the biggest on the East Coast.

"I love it. I come every year since I was born. I come out early and stake out seats for my family. It's a good time. I love Dundalk even though I don't live here anymore. It's fun, fun, fun," said Loretta Carr, of Rosedale.

It's fun with the Baltimore Ravens marching band, Miss Maryland and all big red trucks.

"People turn out all over the parade route. It's a day for family, a cookout and the pool," Neibuhr said.

Nick Moskos is a vision in red, white and blue.

"This is the greatest country in the world,"Crandell said. "It's what I do on the Fourth of July. I've done it every Fourth for over 20 years. This is where I spend my mornings."

They salute WWII and all veterans. The Baltimore County Police Honor Guard and the Knights of Columbus were there too, as Dundalk celebrates America.

This was the 80th Dundalk Fourth of July Parade. The annual Dundalk fireworks display is Friday at 9:15 p.m. at the Grange Elementary School.
