Md. Doctor's Sex-Abuse Trial Has Been Moved

CUMBERLAND, Md. (AP) -- A judge has ordered the malpractice trial of a western Maryland doctor to be moved to Frederick County.

Allegany County Circuit Judge Gary Leasure told attorneys in the case about his decision Wednesday, citing the importance of seating an impartial jury in the trial of Dr. William Dando.

Dando has denied allegations he deliberately touched a female patient in a sexual manner during an examination at a walk-in clinic in LaVale last year.

The woman is suing clinic owner MedExpress Urgent Care of Morgantown, West Virginia. She alleges MedExpress knew, or should have known, about Dando's 1987 conviction and incarceration for raping a woman at gunpoint in her home near Orlando, Florida. MedExpress denies liability.

Dando surrendered his Maryland medical license in September to resolve criminal charges he sexually assaulted another patient.
