He was shot in the stomach in the 4900 block of Goodnow Road, police said.

Chavis was a master barber in Baltimore and had more than 19,000 followers on his Instagram account @celebritycutzbydev.

He recently celebrated his birthday two weeks ago.

In a post on his birthday, Chavis wrote, "28 years old today I appreciate this birthday so much because the hardest thing in my life right now is trying stay alive baltimore I live in a place where a box of bullets is cheap only $40 dollars and n***** will take your priceless life god bless you all and be safe, I am not saying be safe because it's sound cool protect your f******* life."

In his last post on Tuesday, he tagged himself in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

"You can have more then you got because you can become more then who you are ???? if you don't change then you will always have what you got," Chavis posted.

Mickey was a friend of Chavis. They worked in the same building together. Mickey said that the two immediately clicked.

"It's hard," Mickey said. "I ain't think I would have to do nothing like this. He was a very good person."

Wednesday, WJZ captured footage as officers examined a car with a shattered window and what appeared to be two bullet holes in the windshield. It was on the same block that Chavis was shot.

The owner of the car said that she's not related to Chavis and that she saw the damage when she came out for work the morning after the shooting.

WJZ asked Baltimore Police if the damaged car was related to the investigation. They would only say that a car was involved.

Police are still looking into who shot the well know barber, and why.

"For me to walk in and to find out that he is gone, it's hard," Sean Greenwood, a client of Chavis, said. "He's such a good guy. So for someone to just take him away, it's like they are taking from society."

His co-worker and close friend said that Chavis leaves behind his 2-year-old daughter, his mom, and many people who admired him.

Anyone with information on either shooting should call police at 410-396-2100 or Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7LOCKUP.
