Friend says man killed in Randallstown shooting 'never bothered anybody'

BALTIMORE-- A man died after he was shot Saturday night in Baltimore County, according to police.

Shawn Stewart, 49 years old, was found shot around 9:20 p.m. outside of a home in the 8600 block of Lucerne Road in Randallstown. He was taken to the hospital where he died.

Investigators said the shooting happened during a party at a home.

Damon Gatling, one of Stewart's childhood friends, said Stewart is from Northeast Baltimore and worked as a truck driver.

"I can't believe it," Stewart's friend Damon Gatling said. "Like I said, I just talked to him last week."

Gatling told WJZ he remembers his last conversation with Stewart.

"On the text, I let him know that I love him," Gatling said. "He told me he loved me also."

WJZ spoke to people who live along Lucerne Road but they didn't want to go on camera.

They said there are usually parties at the home where Stewart was shot, but Saturday night's party was different because there were more people than usual.

Gatling said he doesn't know why anyone would shoot his friend. He said Stewart never had any conflicts.

"He never bothered anybody," Gatling said. "I never heard him go back and forth with anybody. He never had any issues with anybody. Anytime anybody told him they had issues. He would diffuse it."

He said Stewart is from Northeast Baltimore, worked as a truck driver and was loved by everyone who knew him.

"Like if he could do it for you," Gatling said. "It was done, like without a doubt, the drop of a hat, just like that. It's a great loss. A lot of people loved him."

Anyone with information on this shooting should call Baltimore County Police at 410-307-2020 or Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7LOCKUP.
