Dave Cottle Head Coach Of The Chesapeake Bayhawks Joins Scott And Jeremy
Dave Cottle, head coach of the Chesapeake Bayhawks, joins Scott and Jeremy to discuss the team's recent loss putting them out of MLL playoff contention.
After losing to the Ohio Machine 14-16 on Friday, the Chesapeake Bayhawks fell to 3-7 on the season, taking sole possession of last place in the MLL standings.
Coach Cottle stated last week that he was encouraged by his team's effort of late, but intangibles such as defensive output caused the Bayhawks to drop out of playoff contention.
"They have some really good offensive players and we just couldn't stop them," said Cottle.
Sloppy play and turnovers were the main issues for the 'Hawks, and the team committed way more than their season average.
"You should be around 12 turnovers per game, and we had 21 the other day," Cottle explained.
"As I told you last week, our effort, enthusiasm, and execution have been better, but unfortunately we picked the wrong time to play poorly on the defensive end."
With the Bayhawks playing the remainder of the season with no shot at playoff contention, their head coach emphasized the importance of finishing strong.
"You play for pride and you play for each other. No matter what our record is, we have to come out and play well for our fans," said Cottle.
