Dana White Previews UFC 180

Dana White, UFC President, joins The Scott Garceau Show with Jeremy Conn to discuss UFC fighting and how far this sport has come. UFC was at the Baltimore Arena in April of this year and White was asked if there are future plans to come back. He stated, "Loved it, had a blast down there and will definitely be back." When asked if there was one region that was better than the other, he says, "Everybody is so used to Vegas being the fight capital of the world, Vegas works good." However, Mexico City just had the fastest sellout. This sport is really taking off all around the world.

When discussing the success of UFC and MMA White says, "I don't care what color you are, what country you are from or what language you speak, we are all human and fighting is in our blood." The sport is running wild all around the world and not just in the USA. The sport and the talent has changed so much, "it's night and day.  The UFC turns 21 today. We just did an event last Saturday in Australia. China, Mexico, Canada, it's unbelievable how fast this sport has grown."

Heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez has fallen out once again with an injury. "He was hurt with his shoulder and now he's hurt again," White says. With Velasquez hurt, Fabricio Werdum will fight Mark Hunt this Saturday night in Mexico City. The winner of this event will go on to fight Velasquez. White states Velasquez "Will probably be ready by March."

The UFC really helped advance martial arts.  The female side of it has also taken off.  "The women are pretty tough." Fox sports 1 is featuring an all-female cast for The Ultimate Fighter. "The two girls who make it to the finale in December are phenomenal.  It's a side of the sport I didn't see coming.  Fans love the women fighting."
