Judge Orders CVS Arson Suspect To Be Held Pending Trial
BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- The man charged with setting fire to a CVS during the Baltimore riots was ordered to await in jail until his trial.
Raymon Carter was arrested on June 30 in connection with an April 27th arson at the pharmacy located at Pennsylvania and North avenues.
A federal judge ruled Tuesday that 24-year-old Carter be held pending his trial because he couldn't be trusted.
The judge noted in his previous arrests, Carter never complied with the conditions of his release.
Prosecutors said at the time of his arrest, Carter fled from ATF agents and when he was captured he lied about his identity and his name.
Carter's defense attorney said the government's case was extremely thin and there was no proof that his client was the one that set the fire.
The fire caused nearly $1 million in damages to the community.
