Cumberland Police Arrest Theft Suspect After Foot Chase

CUMBERLAND, Md. (AP) -- Cumberland police say officers arrested a theft suspect after chasing him on foot.

Police say they were called to the Queen City Drive plaza after getting complaints about a suspicious man harassing patrons of the businesses there.

Police say officers saw a man matching the description walking away. The officers caught up with the man, later identified as 35-year-old Eric Rosenberger of Cumberland.

Police say the officers recognized Rosenberger and knew he was wanted on a warrant for theft. The officers told him to stop, but police say he started running. Police say the officers later found him hiding under the rear porch of a home.

He faces charges including theft, obstructing and hindering and resisting arrest. He's being held on $6,600 bond. Online court records don't list an attorney for him.
