Craig Laughlin On The NHL All Star Game And The Second Half Of The Season

Craig Laughlin is a former NHL Player who is the Capitals color commentator for their broadcasts on Comcast Sportsnet.

Craig joined Ed and Steve to talk about the NHL All-Star Game and the outlook for the Caps in the 2nd half of the regular season.

Craig started off by talking about the new All-Star Game format and give his initial thoughts saying "a lot better than years past but it's still not up to snuff...guys still go through the motions and I'm not sure how to fix it, but 3 on 3 is more action." Craig also talked about how much better this year's All-Star game was compared to last year's and how he doesn't know how to fix it but something needs to be done.

As for whether or not Caps fans should worry about Alex Ovechkin's injury issues Craig said "I'm not sure, the fact is that he's been banged up and had a long season so far...the team looked at the big picture more than anything." Craig also talked about why the Caps would hold him out saying "I think the fact that the Caps are battling and in the stretch run...I have no problem with players missing the game and having a one game suspension makes it interesting."

And finally Craig talked about what makes this team feel different heading towards the playoffs saying "better coaching, better goal-tending, probably a better formula of putting their lines together...Barry Trotz set the table last year when he came in, this is the best coach we've had since the 80's...there is a different feel to this team."
