Cozy Country Inn Near Camp David Closing; Likely To Be Razed

THURMONT, Md. (AP) -- A hotel known among Washington journalists for its proximity to Camp David is closing its doors.

Cozy Country Inn owner Jerry Freeze told The Frederick News-Post (http://bit.ly/1G6Xaim ) Monday that both the hotel and the neighboring restaurant are scheduled for demolition after the inn closes this week. The Cozy Restaurant closed in June.

Freeze says he lacks the energy to keep it going.

The News-Post reported in June that the business owed nearly $180,000 in federal and state taxes. Since then, Freeze has sold many items from the buildings through a series of auctions and tag sales.

Freeze's father Wilbur opened the business in 1929. The hotel and cottages and are decorated to commemorate the visits of presidents and dignitaries.
