Couple Donate To Baltimore Library Open During Riots
BALTIMORE (AP) -- Netscape co-founder and his philanthropist wife plan to donate $170,000 in computers and equipment to a library that decided to stay open during the Baltimore riots following the death of Freddie Gray in police custody.
The Baltimore Sun reports (http://bsun.md/1ShM5QT ) the Enoch Pratt Free Library announced Wednesday that Marc Andreessen and his wife Laura Arrillaga-Andreessen will be donating computers, laptops, printers and other equipment to the library.
The library's chief executive officer Carla Hayden says the Andreessens were the first people to contact the library after the unrest to offer their support.
The library's communications director Roswell Encina says the equipment is expected to arrive next month and will be distributed among all Pratt branches.
The Andreessens have also promised to donate computers to Missouri's Ferguson Municipal Public Library.
