Police investigating after two teenagers injured in Essex shooting

BALTIMORE - Two teenagers were injured in a shooting Sunday in Essex, Baltimore County Police said.

The shooting happened around 12 p.m. in the area of Old Eastern and Selig Avenue, near the Glenwood Garden Apartments.

The two 15-year-olds are expected to be OK.

"I know it's not a particularly good area," Essex resident Tina Scales said.

No arrests have been made.

"You have to have eyes in the back of your head to not only watch out for young people but also old people," Essex resident Dennis Ray Oates said.

Investigators were called to the area for another shooting on November 22, 2023, when two men - ages 22 and 19 -- were shot. The 22-year-old died.

People who live in the area told WJZ they have concerns about their neighborhood.

"I have two kids," Scales said. "I pretty much keep them in the house because of it."

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 410-307-2020 or Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-756-2587 (7LOCKUP).
