Person Taken To Hospital After Two-Alarm Fire In Columbia, 24 Units Damaged, Officials Say

COLUMBIA, Md. (WJZ) -- One person was taken to a hospital and five others were evaluated for burns after a two-alarm fire broke out at an apartment building in Columbia on Sunday, fire officials said.

The fire broke out just before 7 p.m. in the 11300 block of Little Patuxent Parkway.

When firefighters arrived, they found flames coming from three balconies on the back of the building.

It took firefighters nearly an hour to put out the blaze. Two dozen units suffered some kind of damage, the Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services said.

The state fire marshal responded to the scene to investigate the cause of the fire. The American Red Cross also responded to help displaced residents.
