Coleman From the Castle

Listen to Coleman From the Castle

Ravens beat reporter Jerry Coleman joins Scott and the guys to discuss the Ravens' week of practice leading up to a road game in Tampa Bay. Although the two biggest injury stories earlier this week were cornerback Asa Jackson and defensive end Chris Canty, there seems to be a bit more concern at the castle later in the week. "You've got two fifths of your offensive line there today, that's a bit disconcerting, but Harbaugh didn't talk about that," Coleman said.

As for that aforementioned injury to Asa Jackson, who was starting to play more consistently, the Ravens had to resort to bringing in a former preseason bust. "Dominique Franks is a guy they didn't want at the beginning of the year, so they can't be too excited about it now," said Coleman.

What's more, it seems even the healthy Ravens players are under some fire--that is if you infer Harbaugh just as Coleman does. "What was interesting was when [Harbaugh] was asked about C.J. Mosely's great performance, his response was 'C.J. loves football. We're not interested in guys who do not love football.' That, to me, was a shot at other guys who might not be focused on just football right now," said Coleman.

Cornerback Lardarius Webb says he is now part of that group of healthy Ravens, and will likely take on a bigger role this week. "He actually called last week his preseason conditioning game, and he feels like he is 100 percent going into this game," said Coleman.

The Ravens will indeed need Webb. With Jackson being placed on IR/Designated for Return, they can't be shallow at corner with a talented receiving corps coming up. "Mike Glennon does have some weapons to work with. Jackson and Evans are great talents, and Lewis Murphy has been good as well," Coleman added.
