Clear Spring Loan Center To Open For Flood Victims
CLEAR SPRING, Md. (AP) -- The U.S. Small Business Administration will begin making low-interest disaster loans available to flood victims in two western Maryland counties for damage from a June storm.
The agency will set up an outreach center Tuesday in Clear Spring to work with people whose homes or businesses were damaged.
Gov. Martin O'Malley says the funds will help ensure that communities in Washington and Allegany counties recover what they lost and thrive moving forward. The loans are for repairing physical and property damage.
The June 12 storms caused flash flooding in the Washington County town of Clear Spring and the Allegany County communities of Cresaptown and Bowling Green.
Emergency management officials say the dollar amount of damage didn't meet the threshold for seeking additional disaster aid from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
